Lavender Lemon Pepper Vinaigrette

1/3 cup olive oil

1 tablespoon red wine vinegar

1 tablespoon lavender lemon pepper

1 tablespoon water

2 teaspoons finely chopped shallots

Mix well and toss with salad greens of your choice.

Melon Salad with Lavender Ginger Syrup

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup water

1 teaspoon dried lavender buds

2 teaspoons fresh ginger, grated

2 cups watermelon

2 cups cantaloupe

2 cups honey dew melon

2 limes, juiced

1 teaspoon salt

mint leaves to garnish

In a small saucepan, dissolve sugar in water on medium heat.  Remove from heat and add lavender and ginger.  Allow the syrup to cool then refrigerate.

Cut melons into bite-sized pieces and combine in a large bowl.  Drizzle enough syrup to coat.

Add juiced limes and salt, then gently toss.  Garnish with mint leaves.

Reserve extra syrup for future use, such as for a bourbon cocktail, tea, or lemonade, etc.

Grilled Cheese with Lavender Honey

1 egg

2 slices sourdough bread, thick

Lavender honey

Goat cheese

2 teaspoons butter

Dried figs or other fruit

Whisk egg in a large bowl.  Soak sourdough bread in egg mixture until absorbed.

Remove bread from bowl and squeeze lavender honey on each slice.  Add a thin slice of goat cheese to one slice and place other slice on top.

Melt butter in a medium skillet or grill pan.  Cook sourdough sandwich for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown.  Remove from pan and garnish with dried figs.
